March 2019

March, the month of change.  We change the clocks, the weather and our mindset.   It’s very interesting how the flip of a calendar page can bring so much excitement.  With longer days and warmer weather on the horizon there is the anticipation of spring in the air.  Let’s hope Mother Nature is in agreement with the calendar this year.  If not, we are prepared because we have so much fun planned for this month!

We begin March with our 7th Annual Art Reception on Saturday, March 2nd.  This event is so eagerly anticipated by our residents because it means our walls will be adorned with new artwork.  If you are unable to attend Saturday the artwork will remain up for a few months, so please feel free to stop in take a look around.

I feel so very lucky to have great relationships with some incredibly interesting speakers.  One of our favorites is Michael Perry who does a travel log, complete with amazing photos and some great stories.  This month he shares his trip to Finland and Oslo with us.  It’s going to be a fun journey.  Another local speaker, Tom Jamrog will be sharing his pictures and stories from his hike around Portugal.  We love to “travel” with these gentlemen; it really does feel like we’ve been there with them.  And lastly we are very excited to welcome back the Curator/Collections Manager for the Penobscot Marine Museum, Cipperly Good.  Cipperly will be sharing photos and history on “How Maine Built America: Lumbering & Quarrying.”   Please join us for this event on Wednesday, March 13th @ 10:30 in our 3rd Floor Media Room.

March will be a musical month as well with five different music events, from classical piano to Polka music we’ve got it all this month.  Variety is the spice of life right?

Our big fundraising event with Tim Sample will be at the Camden Opera House on Saturday, March 23rd at       7 pm.   With the proceeds from this event we are hoping to add a solarium to our building to be used for a place to enjoy the warmth of the sun all year round, read a book, visit with friends or maybe even tend a little indoor garden too.  The possibilities of its benefits are endless.  So please join us for a night of fun and laughter for a great cause.  You can purchase tickets in advance through the Camden Opera House.  We hope to see you there.

Every month we add new and exciting things, yet so many activities are beloved by our residents, we make sure to keep them on the calendar each month.  These include,  weekly shopping trips, five exercise classes per week,  discussion groups, movies, games, crafts, scenic rides, trips to local museums,  dining out, wine socials, cocktail hour, church services and weekly art classes and sometimes we throw in an ice cream social.

There is always something happening at Bartlett Woods and we’ve saved a seat for you!
