Here at Bartlett Woods, all daily meals are served in the first-floor Dining Room and Sun Porch. When it is “Party Time,” Chef Aaron and his Dietary Team design lavish banquets and special events, where our meal service may extend out to the Garden Patio, the Game Room, Library and Media Room.
Bartlett Woods’ Amenities Rental Program includes two healthy meals every day of the week. A continental breakfast is come-when-you-wish, from 7:00 to 9:00 am in our light-filled Sun Porch. This is a self-serve, buffet style breakfast. If you have difficulty serving yourself, wait staff will be available to assist you. In addition to the continental breakfast, we offer a “special” each day of the week (think Blueberry pancakes, Pumpkin French Toast, home baked cinnamon rolls, and much more). The atmosphere is cheerful and relaxed, and lingering over a cup of coffee and the newspaper is highly encouraged.
A full-course main meal is served restaurant-style every day at 12:00 in our elegant Dining Room. We offer nutritious choices and can easily accommodate special diets. There is always a “heart-healthy” choice or a vegetarian option. For a nominal fee, guests may be invited with 24- hour advance notice. Please let dining services know 4 hours in advance if you are not planning to attend the main meal. By prior arrangement, your meal may be delivered to your apartment and stored in the refrigerator.
Optional meal services
A full hot breakfast can be made to order upon your request seven days a week.
A third meal choice is available at an additional fee. This program consists of a lighter fair and is served at 5 pm. As we call it, “Light Meal,” is prepared by our evening cook and offers regular items, such as freshly prepared sandwiches and soup, along with nightly specials such as lasagna or pizza.
With advanced notice, you can arrange to have a personal event such as a birthday or anniversary catered in the Sun Porch. Chef Aaron enjoys planning the menu with the resident and their family, and goes above and beyond to make it a memorable affair.
Aaron also welcomes feedback, and he hosts a dining committee meeting with residents each month in the parlor. Our goal is to make your dining experience at Bartlett Woods as enjoyable and nutritious as possible and your suggestions and comments are valuable and important to us.
On-site Grocery Commissary
If you forgot to pick up that loaf of bread or ½ dozen eggs on your most recent shopping trip, not to worry! Our Kitchen is happy to come to the rescue. We provide basic commissary items for a nominal charge, billed at the end of the month. From TP to tea, butter to bread, if we use it, we can sell it to you (exclusive of alcoholic beverages).
Party Season at Bartlett Woods
Chef Aaron is famous for his Hors d’oeuvres plates, and loves to plan for something delectable for every palate. Picture this: Beef Tenderloin Crostini with Caper Cream Cheese, or Oysters Grilled with Blood Orange Sauce, or Polenta with Wild Mushroom Ragu. Aaron’s imagination knows no limits! Historically, Bartlett Woods has hosted a Friends & Family Dinner several times a year. These events are an opportunity for residents to invite one or two special guests to join in the festive occasion. Lobster Bakes and Holiday Dinners are traditional examples of how our Kitchen Crew goes all –out to make the meal the most memorable possible. Other occasions when Chef Aaron’s Team gets to shine are during annual Open House events and Art Show opening receptions.
Bartlett Woods Sample Menus
“As an individual who spent many hours with my grandparents growing up, it was not out of the ordinary for me to be eating homemade pies and bread galore while visiting. I noticed how important it was to them and their friends to socialize, and food always seemed like the focal point of any gathering. I began cooking in restaurants for people who were vacationing in Maine. After starting a family I decided to leave the restaurant business and began my career as the Director of Dietary Services at Bartlett Woods. I use my experience with my grandparents as a daily guide to assure those living at Bartlett Woods always feel like they are attending a special event or are on an extended vacation.”
